Flying Female Worshiper
Architectural fragment. Xth century, Trà Kiêu style. Sandstone. H. 48.2.cm, W 41.9 cm, D. 15.2 cm. Asian Art Museum of San Francisco. The Avery Brundage Collection. B70S9.

This flying figure, seemingly inspired by the art of India, is shown bearing a flower, a gift in honor of a now missing deity who was the focus of the sculpture. The features and the three tiered headgear, similar to the one in Fig. 7, place this architectural fragment in the Xth century Trà Kiêu style.
